Multicultural Therapy:
Departs from traditional therapy by viewing the client’s problem through the lens of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, historical oppression, class, religious beliefs and socioeconomic status. The client and therapist explore how one’s worldview, values, and lifestyle shape and define the world they see as well as assist or hinder them from making the changes they desire. Our target population includes women, African Americans and At-Risk-youth and families.

A Spiritual Focus
Life challenges are explored through the lens of one’s faith, and spiritual beliefs. What does your current life crisis reveal about your spiritual beliefs, How do your spiritual beliefs support you when you are at a crossroads? How does your spiritual beliefs guide in your day-to-day choices?

Psychological Assessment:
The primary focus of a psychological assessment is to provide a diagnosis, assess level of function or disability, help direct treatment, and assess treatment outcome. A psychological test is one of the sources of data used; at Transition Mental Health we offer intelligence and personality assessments. Intelligence tests attempt to measure your basic ability to understand the world around you, assimilate its functioning, and apply this knowledge to enhance the quality of your life. Personality tests attempt to measure your basic personality style.

Corporate Consultation
Through consultation we work collaboratively to form partnerships with corporations, physicians, social service agencies, schools and churches to increase awareness of mental health issues. We aim to educate the general public about mental illness and how it may impact the individual’s ability to function effectively in multiple environments. Presentations are customized and focus on depression, anxiety, and on understanding the role of stress as a precursor to physical and mental illness.
